The Center for Predictable Restorative Dentistry was founded in 1998 by Victor Avis and Paul Federico as a vehicle to bring their vision of a new kind of dentistry to a broader community.
The Center's core principle is the belief that the most effective dental practices are relationship-centered; successful dental practitioners must take the time to understand the full scope of their patients' problems, both physical and psychological. That is the only way to determine and recommend the best approach to care. The patient must be considered as a whole person, not just a set of teeth and gums.
This kind of dentistry requires two things. It calls for a deep technical knowledge of the relationship between TMJs, musculature, teeth and supporting structures, as well as an understanding of the latest techniques. It also depends on behavioral skills, to develop trusting relationships that enable patients to move toward optimal dental health.
At the Center, Victor and Paul believe the heart of the dentist is the key to success. For dentists who share their vision, we offer a continuing education program that can help them evolve their own relationship-centered practices. We call it the Intensive.
The Intensive is a concentrated, 12-month program which includes four, three-day seminars, as well as weekly telephone coaching sessions. The curriculum covers behavioral and technical training, and is aimed at building a structured, repeatable approach to diagnosis and treatment planning. The Intensive is offered each year to a limited number of dentists and their assistants. It has been approved by the Academy of General Dentistry, and will provide 84 hours of AGD credit.
